Springtime in New York

Okay, seriously, this has been the greatest trip already.  We have had amazing weather--think nice, light breeze, a bit of sun, mild temperature, no humidity.  We are staying at a quirky little hotel that was relatively inexpensive for New York where we have our own bathroom (surprisingly enough, there are a LOT of relatively expensive hotels where you have  shared bathrooms--no thank you!) and some seriously good coffee at the little coffee shop that is adjacent.  We are within a couple blocks of the subway and doing some pretty serious walking....no blisters, just tired feet!  The best part of all though is meeting up with friends that we haven't seen in forever who happened to be in New York overlapping our trip and we have laughed, talked, walked, and talked and laughed some more...oh, and eaten some really yummy food.  Dinner in Little Italy last night--imagine an authentic Italian restaurant where they waiters are really Italian and speak as much Italian to you as they do English and the best, most amazing pasta you have ever eaten--that was our dinner last night.  Tonight, we had pizza at John's in the West Village and seriously, I don't think it gets much better than that.  We have met up with 3 different couples as well as our friends who live here in New York in the last 30 hours and it has been really special just to visit and catch up and enjoy the city together.

We had my pre-surgical testing and pre-op visit with my surgeon this morning and got all set for my surgery tomorrow.  It will be about a 2 hour procedure and he will be touching up lots of little areas.  Basically, they would like me not to pick up the boys for about a week and I will be pretty sore for a few days.  I feel like it is a cake walk in comparison to what I went through last year and am not stressed about it at all.  My procedure is tomorrow at 12:45 p.m.  I, of course, will be out like a light, and would appreciate your prayers for the surgeon and for all to go well, but mostly, I would love for you to think about Micah....it isn't so much fun for him watching me go back to surgery.

We've been praying, and thank Him in advance, (from Advance!) for helping in every way, with everyone, including the doctor. Much love, Grandma & Grandpa E.

Glad you are having such a wonderful time! Hope the surgery goes well! I'm praying!!!
Isn't God good to give you and Micah this sweet time together? Especially after a long, hard year of med school and other stresses in your life. Praying for His protecting, healing hand to be on you as you have surgery. And, that Micah will feel His presence as he waits during the surgery.
